Critters Rehatched would like to thank you for taking the time to sit down and chat with us about You Experience on Critters 3 Where you played the role of Johnny
CrittersRehatched--Could you tell us a bit about how you got involved with Critters 3?
Joseph Cousins- Well Critters started as any other role for us really as far as getting the part. My brother and I auditioned, and sure enough got the part. However I had already seen the first one and was indeed looking forward to being a part of this tongue in cheek horror/sci-fi series.
CrittersRehatched --You and your Brother Christian Both played the part of Johnny, How did you guys decide on which one of you got to be in the scene?
Joseph Cousins- To be honest, we never really decided. We both had our own personalities and strong points as well as weaknesses, so when it wasn't a matter of hours left or school restraints we typically defaulted to certain scenes a lot. It often became about 50/50 anyway though.
CrittersRehatched --Was it difficult to work around all those Animatronics as a kid? Were you ever scared by them?
Joseph Cousins- Not scary at all. You see them while and before filming and are very much aware they are not "real". In fact, they were quite interesting to me...the necessary technology that went into them. Besides...part of acting is pretending to be scared...not actually being scared.
CrittersRehatched-- was there any scenes you filmed that never made it into the final version of the film?
Joseph Cousins- There's always a few scenes in every movie and role that end up on the cutting room floor. Unfortunately after all this time without reviewing the original script and comparing it to the film, I couldn't say off hand specifically what didn't make the final cut. Perhaps the DVD has some deleted scenes?
CrittersRehatched-- what were your first thoughts after viewing the film for the first time?
Joseph Cousins- Its been so long, its hard to say what I actually thought of the film initially. But I'm sure I thought it was fun and cheesy just like most people, haha.
CrittersRehatched - Have you seen the film recently? What are your thoughts on it after all these years later?
Joseph Cousins- Its been quite a while since I've seen it in its entirety. I did see footage of the original trailer for the film, it did bring back some fond memories. As for my thoughts on the film itself, refer mainly to question 5, but I enjoyed making it overall.
CrittersRehatched - Did you ever have any problems on set when filming? Such as problems with the animatronics, other actors, or cast and crew?
Joseph Cousins- As far as I remember, everything went fairly smoothly. All the cast and crew were great and a pleasure to work with. But there's always some glitches and technical difficulties with any filing from time to time.
CrittersRehatched - Did you get to keep any of the Critter Props after filming was complete?
Joseph Cousins- Unfortunately no critters, haha! However the green glowing crystal I was allowed to keep.
CrittersRehatched - Was there anything different in the script that you can remember that never made to production?
Joseph Cousins- Well without being redundant, my answer will be the same as on question number 4.
CrittersRehatched - What is your best memory from Working on Critters 3?
Joseph Cousins- Just being a kid in a special/uncommon situation really. Just messing around/playing in between filming. Playing video games with Leo, and watching all the different critters being made and used.
CrittersRehatched - Is there anything else you would like to add about your experience working on the film Critters 3?
Joseph Cousins- Well, much like just about everything I was fortunate enough to get to do in the industry...I wouldn't trade the experience for anything.
CrittersRehatched - Had you seen the other 2 films before you started working on Critters 3?
Joseph Cousins- The first one I had already seen on late night TV prior. The 2nd I caught up with after filming number three.
Crittersrehatched would like to thank you again for taking time to talk with us about your experience on Critters 3.
Joseph Cousins- Its been my pleasure, and thank you!
